Apparel & Textiles Packing Spec

Mailers first, moisture/dust protection, fold and ship, and when to use a box.

Apparel and textiles resist crushing but hate moisture and dirt — the ideal category for poly mailers: cheapest and fastest.

Standard steps

  1. Fold & checkFold consistently; verify style/size/colour.
  2. Dust/moisture linerPut each item in a resealable/OPP bag first.
  3. MailerChoose a snug mailer — not stretched, not loose.
  4. SealPress the self-seal closed; add a sealing sticker if needed.
  5. LabelApply flat, not across the seal seam.

When to use a box

  • Large multi-item orders or hard accessories (shoe boxes, hangers, metal parts);
  • Use gift-ready packaging when the customer buys it.
Speed gain

At 50+ mailer orders/day, pre-fold and stack by size at the start — ~2–3 s/order and much lower material and freight cost.

Price & estimate note

Equipment prices are indicative Australian retail bands in AUD for 2026. They vary by brand, retailer, promotion and over time, and exclude GST, freight and installation; the invoice at purchase prevails. “Seconds saved” are ranges from published warehouse-operations material — estimates, not guarantees. Time your own process with a stopwatch first. See Sources & method.

Mailer choice is in boxes & poly mailers.
